When I first started calling myself "an artist" back in 2005, I was watching a TV morning show and they said that it was the solstice that day, and it was one of the two times a year you could stand eggs up on end, and they gave a demonstration.
I thought that might make an interesting picture, so I bought a couple of dozen eggs and set up my point and shoot camera and took this shot, then gave it a painterly look..
It has sold many times, as artwork, on cups, aprons, T-shirts and so on.
I later learned that you may stand eggs up on end any day, and the solstice story was not factual: Fake News! At any rate, I'm glad I responded to the story or I would never have taken the photo nor made so many customers happy.
Whether it's writing novels, directing TV, reviving Art Deco or colorizing Silver Screen Stars, my jobs have always been on the creative side. Now that I'm in my 90s, and with over 1800 images from which to choose, I still look forward to the next inspiration.
